Carl Rudolph Krafft
1884-1938

Arcadia (Autumn Symphony), c.1916

Krafft said he was influenced to visit the Ozark Mountains by reading Harold Bell Wright’s The Shepherd of the Hills. He said Wright “had described the very neighborhood which a landscape artist only expects to find in heaven.”

Krafft maintained studios in Hollister and Arcadia, Missouri and traveled there frequently from Chicago between 1913 and 1916.
